Herb Honey Cough Syrup
1 cup honey (organic)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tsp herb of choice (sage, wild cherry, or horehound—you can combine two or three of these herbs; your choice).
Stir all the ingredients over medium heat until they simmer, then remove from heat, cover, and steep ten minutes. Strain and bottle. You can keep this in the fridge for several months. Take by the tablespoon as often as needed for coughs (do not give to children under the age of two).
Pineapple Juice for Cough
1 cup of fresh pineapple juice
1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice
1 piece of ginger (about 3 inches)
1 Tbsp raw honey
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Combine all ingredients and take 1/4 cup, 2-3 x/day and repeat recipe daily.
Pineapples contain bromelain, an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties. It fights infections and kills bacteria. The juice from fresh pineapples can suppress coughs more effectively than cough syrup.
This is my favorite Pineapple Juice!
